Michelle's life met with difficulties early on as she was born to teenage parents. Through these experiences, Tim shares their firm belief that God orchestrated His redemptive plan in their lives to prepare them to be Faith's parents.
Not only does Tim write about the experiences leading up to Faith's adoption, he recounts the many amazing details surrounding Faith's birth and adoption and how God shaped and molded her life. As Faith grows, it is obvious that she has an overcoming attitude; she learns and grows in spite of her disability.

3/28/2015I just finished "We Named her Faith" and I highly recommend the book. Tim openly shares his own difficulties growing up as he struggled with physical challenges, rejection and ultimately alcoholism. At his lowest point Tim found his security in the arms of Christ, met his wonderful wife Michelle ( who had her own challenges growing up) and both dedicated their lives to the ministry. Tim relates to the reader how these earlier trials prepared both he and Michelle to serve as Church plants in the inner city, make God the centerpiece of their marriage and prepare them on how to be godly parents to their daughter Faith.
There is much more for the reader to be challenged with as Tim uses Scripture, personal experiences, and insights from various influential authors to make his points . Tim has lived the quote offered by Oswald Chambers that states " God does not give us overcoming life; he gives us life as we overcome."
Tim's story is one of perseverance, inspiration, and most importantly, Faith.

A very spirtual yearning for a child . Unconditional love for a couple who wants a child to love. This was a great moving book.
I loved this book. I was so encouraged by the Orrs' story of faith, (and Faith!) redemption, grace, and family. I loved to see how God is working in these people to form a beautiful family and story, and to see the glory given to Him in this book. This is such a sweet reminder that God can work through the brokenness of this world for good and glory. This was under the Christmas tree for several of my family and friends last year! Definitely a must read! love.love.love
This book is an inspiration. This book will be a great help to someone raising a child to have faith in God. This will also help those raising a child with a special challenge. I love his approach.
First, I know Tim, Michelle and Faith, personally. This book is an account of two people who love God, have a deep desire to have a family and have all hopes dashed. Walking with God they realize their dream of being a complete family. This is a true story of faith and trust in the true and living God. It will deepen your faith.
I enjoyed reading "We Named her Faith" from the moment I downloaded it. It is definitely a must read for all parents. Tim shares his and Michelle's life experiences growing up, and later as husband and wife, which the Lord used to prepare them to be the chosen parents of Faith, a special needs child. Tim shares how he and Michelle desperately wanted to have a child, but found that was not to be. Instead God led them to adopt a special needs child, specifically a child with Down Syndrome. His insight into the struggles Faith would face at birth, and will have growing up and becoming an adult, are extraordinary. As he shares his life as a child born with birth defects himself, and later his conversion after troubled teen years, you will begin to see that God had a plan for Tim, Michelle and Faith to become a special Christ centered family.
I look forward to Tim's next book as Faith continues to grow and thrive in the coming years, with the loving christian centered guidance from Tim and Michelle.
Could not put the book down. Tim and Michelle have a discipline that is not only a model for their daughter but anyone that reads this book. I was encouraged by Tim's story and cried at times when I think about the unbelievable gift they received with Faith. God truly gives us challenges to help us grow in our faith and Tim uses personal stories and scripture to help us understand. Worth the read and will leave you wanting more.
This book is written with candor and grace. Tim and Michelle's personal journeys, as well as their marital journey, are interesting and have been guided by God's hand. Notably, Tim's craft of writing enables the reader to identify with him on a very human level. His acknowledgement that God is the careful designer of our purposes in life underscores the importance of each phase of our lifespan. It is heartwarming to read about how Tim and Michelle became such blessed parents to Faith and how their lives have focused on molding her into a wonderful child of God.
